See mistakes JAMB Candidates do when they Fail or score low in JAMB.
Over the years, JAMB recorded millions of students registering for the examination. From the figures, about 400,000 students fail JAMB yearly.
Today, I will be presenting the mistakes JAMB candidates do when they fail their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This page also concerns those who have concluded their secondary school and have their O’level result.
Now let’s start….
I will start by sharing my little story…
“I wrote my first JAMB in 2013 and scored 184. Then I was applying to study Medicine and Surgery in UNN…Without doubts, my UTME score was very low and should be considered as FAIL.
“However,, I didn’t see it as FAIL…, I decided to purchase the UNN post utme form, and obviously I didn’t get the admission. I had to get the next year’s JAMB
“The next year (2014), I scored 188 but this time applied for Public Health in FUTO. I got the FUTO Post UTME form but my performance in the post utme was very poor. SO I wasn’t admitted. Again I decided to purchase the 2015 JAMB form.
“that 2015 I applied for computer science, scored 206 in JAMB and 247 in post utme.., but I was also denied admission because of my wrong subject combination. AGAIN I decided to purchase the next year’s (2016) JAMB.
This time, I got 227 in post utme…, that year there was no POST UTME !Luckily for me, I got admission and I am now a graduate.
Now take closely at my story, what did you observe?
You will see that I wrote UTME FOUR times!!!!
WHY??? Because I just didn’t know!
Do you know that some people can also get admission into their school’s without writing JAMB and the truth is that sometimes you will even get the admission level into 200 level.
Now what are those programmes that you can use to gain 200 level admission into your desired university? They are:
- Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), and
- Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB)
JUPEB is done in most universities in Nigeria. But IJMB is done in almost all centers in Nigeria but regulated by Almadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. This implies that when you compete the programme your certificate will be coming from ABU. FYI, According to webometrics, ABU ZARIA is among the best universities in Nigeria.
Now the bothering question should be, will my aspiring school accept IJMB? Yes apart from ABU accepting IJMB candidates into their 200 level degree programmes, every other universities accept IJMB. You can call James 08032433497 to confirm (Tell him you got his number from Allschool).
Okay, back to my story…,
In my 2015 while I was looking for admission, I wanted to study in an international university but I had C’s in my WAEC and NECO result, and according to their requirement, YOU MUST have either A’s or B’s in your WAEC result.
They asked me if I had an Advanced level (A’level) result..to help me substitute the C’s in my result, but I said NO! Then I didn’t know what exactly A’level means…
Now What is ‘A level result)? A’level result is a result higher that WAEC, NECO and GCE.
IJMB and JUPEB are A’level programmes that gives you an A’level result.
Had I known of these.., I would have done the IJMB….
So what do I advice you do?
I advice you not to repeat my mistake.., Don’t stay back at home with just your O’level result. Stand up now and get a higher result.., Go apply and get an A’level result…You will use the A’level result to gain admission into any university of your choice. Not just gaining admission, you will be offered admission into 200 level.
